History:

The "Schneepalast am Kaiserdamm" (snow palace) in Berlin was operating from April 1926 onwards and was one of the world's first indoor skiing facilities. In a 220 meter long and 20 meter high automobile exhibition hall near the fair grounds, which was accessable from Bredtschneiderstraße, not only alpine skiing slopes and toboggan runs were built using artificial snow, but also a ski jumping hill. A visit to Berlin inspired Dagfinn Carlsen to build a similar Schneepalast in Vienna in 1927.
