History:
Besides the ski jumping hills at Chester Bowl Park, Duluth Ski Club set up a new winter sports center at Fond du Lac in 1940 with the support of Works Project Administration. The facility located on Mission Creek not only included a 60 meter hill, which was also called "Big Ojibwe Mountain” or "Ojibwe Bowl", but also alpine skiing slopes, cross-country trails, a tobbogan run, an ice skating rink, and a skiing cabin.
The inaugural competition in February 1941 was attended by 5,000 spectators and Torger Tokle set up an initial hill record of 203 feet. In 1942 the first US nationals were held on the new hill and attended by 12,000 spectators.
In 1964 the ski jump was enlarged into K70, but already in 1972 it was seriously damaged during a spring flood and finally deconstructed in 1975. After that ski jumping activities at Duluth again concentrated at Chester Bowl.
