2010-08-06: Complete re-engineering of Ski Jumping Hill Archive

For nearly 8 years now the Ski Jumping Hill Archive as been present in the WWW with information, photos and news about the jumping hills of the world. Over this period the layout and structure of the site have been more or less unchanged, in spite of a massivly growing content. But now the time has come to do a complete rework of the website in the context of web 2.0.
Before the new version is going to be available online in the next few months, latest by the beginning of the new World Cup season, there will only by minor updates due to recent developments.

2010-07-28: Two new hill records during Polish championships

During last Saturday's team event of Polish national championships Tomasz Byrt set up a new hill record of 109 meters on the normal hill HS 106 jump at Szczyrk.
Only on the next day Adam Małysz improved the summer hill record of his home hill at Wisła on 134.5 m during the large hill competition.

2010-06-03: Decisions of FIS Congress

Today the FIS Congress in Antalya, Turkey, ended. There the hosts of the Ski Flying Worlds 2014 (Harrachov, CZE) and Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 (Falun, SWE) were elected, as well as the final schedules for next season were decided with some changes compared to preliminary schedules.

As expected also the rule for the construction of ski flying hills was changed, so in the future flying hills with a height differenz of up to 135 may be build. The first hill that will profit from this extension is Vikersund (NOR) where a new HS 225 is currently build.

2010-04-13: Important change of rules for ski jumping hills ahead

According to a report of the popular Norwegian newspaper VG the FIS ski jumping meeting last weekend agreed on enlarging the maximum height difference between take-off and outrun of a ski flying hill from 130 to 135 meters. In case of an approval by the FIS congress in May the new rule could already be realized by the latest ski flying hill construction projects at Vikersund and Bad Mitterndorf and make flights up to 250 meters possible.
