The final plans for the new-construction for WSC 2011:

On 2008-04-14 finally the definitive concepts fort he new-construction of Holmenkollen at Oslo, as well as fort he normal hill Midtstubakken for the Nordic Skiing WSC 2011, have been released.

In September 2007 the winning project “Nye Holmenkollen Fyr” by Copenhagen bureau JDS Architects and Eng. Florian Kosche was already presented, but the very expensive costs of the realization could not be financed. Instead now a pared-down version of the new ski jumping hill will be constructed and the complete national skiing facility will be renovated for 920m crones (115m Euro), which is about half of the original expected costs. Therefore the name-giving cone of light on the top of inrun tower (lighthouse = “Fyr”) and an over-roofing of the inrun have to be omitted. The landing hill will mostly stay as it is today and the new K-Point then only will be 117 meters instead of first planned 122 meters.

At the place of old Midtstubakken five training ski jumping hills will be constructed and about 300 meters north the new normal hill for the WSC 2011 will be set up.
