It was a K40 hill. The 1955 competition was a Hungarian National Competition, because there was not enough snow in Mátraháza. That is why they went there on 13th february 1955.

Norwegian carpenter ski jumped Bear Mt.
My Norwegian father immigrated in 1958 now 88 years old and lives in Somers NY. He loves his days ski jumping on Bear mountain with other fellow competitors. He still good memory of his youth and when he began as a child in Norway.
As a surprise, I’d like to gather one or two archives either of photos or footage of my dad ski jumping. He won at least four large trophies, and some small . We have four in glass casing. Always a conversational piece. I think he competed B team competitions, which my mom said he was so embarrassed to even talk about his wins ; that’s how humble my father is.
Anyway, he competition likely 1958- ended 1962? My mom, said no more ski jumping because money tight and family obligations had become priority.

He never crashed at 179 m (WR with crash) on 17 March 1979. IT WAS ONLY AXEL ZITZMANN Beside he ended his career already in 1974.
PLEASE DELETE IT OUT OF RECORDS LIST, IT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE.

Skispringen auf der Zorger Schanze 1952
Ich, Hartmut Ehrt geb. 1939 nahm 1952 am Skispringen auf der Zorger Schanze teil und belegte in der Kat. Schüler den 1.Platz mit Weiten von 19.0 und 19.5m.Sieger wurde Georg Weichert mit 28m. Als Buben sprangen wir im Training ca. 25m (mit Holzner Abfahrtsski aus Holz) weit.Im Frühjahr 1952 verlies ich die Zorger Schule und damit war es vorbei mit dem Skispringen im Harz.Im Taunus versuchte ich es etwa 10 Jahre später nochmals auf der alten Weiltalschanze.

We consider the "Official hill record" the same as the FIS "WC hill record", which can only be set by ski jumpers during official rounds of WC, WSC, SFWC, and Olympics (and GP in summer). Thus, Riiber's amazing jump is not considered as "Official hill record". Nevertheless, it's still the "hill record" :-)

Please delete Josef Matouš 179 m (crash) from hill records list, as he never jumped that far in Planica 1979, because he wasn't even there. He already ended his career in 1974. You confused it with Josef Samek, who competed that year (but didn't surpassed 160 meters barrier).
He did crash in Planica 1969 at hill record at 151 m.

Is the official record on this site based of World Cup Ski Jumping competition or the furthest jump? If the site is basing official record on World Cup ski jumping competition which seems to be the case for all official records on this site, the official record should not be changed to Riiber record. The FIS results after that record still state Prevc record as World Cup record.

Thanks for updating women's record.
Again, although Riiber is not "classic" ski jumper, he set the new "official" hill record, by improving the old one for five meters. The record (147 m) was set at the top level competition with international TV broadcast. I hear all the time from leading slovenian media, journalists and TV Slovenia (who covers and broadcast Planica International since 1960) this as new official hill record. And also from international media.
So please update it as official and take this in consideration and delete Prevc's record which is officially past time ex record now.To recap, Riiber's jump is now officially absolute the longest and official.

Although record distance 147 m by Riiber was set in nordic combined, it was set at highest level in the competition (Olympics, World Championships, World Cup), with International TV broadcast, so this should be marked as official world record. In all Slovenian and foreign media this is now considered as beating Prevc's old record, as now new (current) official hill record.
Another thing is if this was set at 2nd or 3rd league competition at Continetal Cup or some training with no video proof.

You still have labeled (up) Takanashi as record holder and Englund as longest jump.
Lundby jumped 139.5 m (three judges recognized it as valid-standing jump). As it was achieved at top level competition (Olympics, World Championships, World Cup) with professional video proof and International TV broadcast this is the new women's hill record. Please update it!

Bloudkova velikanka (HS138) + Srednja skakalnica HS102
Just to clarify various terms and hill names.
The axis, name and location of old historic "Bloudkova velikanka" (1934) are protected as monument and part of national cultural heritage. It can not be changed or moved, and the name can not be used for any other hill than only for Large hill (now HS138).
HS102 is a complete new hill, built next to Bloudkova velikanka in 2012, and has nothing to do with Bloudek or the history of Bloudkova velikanka. It simply replaced the ex "Srednja Bloudkova velikanka" (K90). The facility was placed right next to Bloudkova velikanka, especially for the future World Championships and easier TV broadacast.
Velikanka means sometinh huge, giagantic, mammoth. In the 1930s and 1940s Bloudkova velikanka was giant, the largest hill in the world.
HS102 is simply called "Srednja skakalnica" (Normal hill). Please change that. Thanks!

Old K90 hill built in 1948 was designed by Stanko Bloudek, with assistance of his close friend and co-worker Stano Pelan. Official hill name was "Srednja Bloudkova skakalnica" (Bloudek's normal hill) and alternative/second name "Skakalnica Stano Pelan" (Stano Pelan Hill).
To distinguish between the hills, please change the name to "Srednja Bloudkova velikanka" (Skakalnica Stano Pelan)

Lanišek never actually jumped 149 m anyway (only 133 m)
It turned out that Lanišek never actually jumped 149 meters in Planica 2014, as it was published, but only 133 meters. As Cene Prevc explained in Planica 2023 (RTV Studio) he and Lanišek back then (in 2014) both jumped 133 meters, but from much lower gate than nordic combined skiers. Jury simply compensated lower gate with adding distance, as there was no gate/wind compensation back then in Nordic combined. Just a lad of 11 years in 1965. A snow day from school and a Dad who preached, "Never be afraid of anything."
Me and my friends decided to venture to the huge hill at the end of the Battle Creek Ski Jump. A formidable challenge though after a couple times I was ready for a bigger thrill.
Borrowing my friend's toboggan (I only had a sled) and helmet I began the long ascent to the top of the jump. Reaching the pinnacle I gazed all around and even at the treetops so far below me.
I set the toboggan down. Sitting in it holding the vertical wood braces, I pushed forward and pulled back time and again. Building courage?
"What's a matter, ya' chicken?"
Nobody's gonna call me chicken. A feeling of exhilaration came over me. One final push and I was off.
I kinda heard yelling and clapping while zooming towards the bottom. 1/2 way down and I was paralyzed by the speed. 3/4's of the way down and I'll bet I was doing a 100...Things were just a blur to this kid.
"God don't let me die." Miraculously I hit a clump of snow...knocking me off the missile. Briskly speeding downward I lost sight of the toboggan as I tried grasping onto anything I could, there was nothing.
Another of God's saving graces appeared before me. As the snow was filling my jacket I noticed a missing board from the jump. Sticking my hand in that hole where the board used to be I stopped myself. The first of the wondrous saves from God.
That jump was a thrill to look at and the words from ABC's Wide World of Sports automatically played in my head, "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" as the downhill skier tumbled off the jump.

Ich war auch dabei.
Viele Jahre ist es her Mitte ende der 80er bin ich auf den Schanzen gesprungen. Mit Gerd Sigmund, Vogt, Kaiser, Ramisch, mehr bekomme ich leider nicht mehr zusammen, Trainer leider auch nicht mehr. Wir haben alles bekommen von den Ski, Helm, Sprunganzug und vieles mehr. Warum muss nur alles Kaputt gehen. waren schöne Zeiten. LG An Alle!

Laut Ergebnisliste wurde ein Sprung aus Gate 13 als Sturz gewertet und dabei kann es sich anhand der Sprungnoten nur um den von Alexandria Loutitt gehandelt haben. Insofern ist es leider kein Schanzenrekord.

Hmm, thanks for the response! I see the lines now, I've never seen green markings down in the hill before. I don't see any difference on the take off table or inrun though. But its also interesting Ljubno is listed as HS91 on that list. Perhaps its adjusted for age groups, so that for U18/U20 its only K77? The PDF mentions age groups but I'm not sure in what context. I guess the easiest would be to just email the club and ask.

It seems that the hill was re-profiled in 2022. By comparing the pictures before and after 2022, you can see that the red markings on the landing hill were changed. In this list from the Slovenian Ski Association, it is now also referred to as K77 / HS 85.

Imho SGP is much into autumn and now WC begins early in autumn, but the official series counts officially. Look at the record note with Kata's 131 m today. It is named as "winter season". So 136 "winter" record and officially 131 m. 133.5 summer record. Kamila sadly out. Also there were important compromises with the avoidance of artificial snow and the spur is icy, a big difference to summer jumps. :-)

Skocznia posiada punkt K-45. Powstała jeszcze przed II wojną Światową. W latach 50-tych XX wieku modernizował ją sam Stanisław Marusarz, słynny skoczek narciarski i olimpijczyk. Została zrewitalizowana. Od 2022 r. służy jako obiekt turystyczny i historyczny. Posiada belki startowe, betonowy próg 1,1 x 4,9 mtr., 46 mtr. rozbieg i 70 mtr. zeskok. Zaopatrzono ją w tablice i pulpity informacyjne z galerią starych fotografii. Piękna skocznia blisko od Krakowa. Rekord oficjalny to 42 metry Krzysztofa Rippera z Myślenic. Mówi się, że skakano tam nawet ok. 50 metrów.

Just want to add to the history of the creation of this jump on the Kanc. My dad, Thomas Currier of Madison, who became the Chief Engineer of the NH State Highway Dept., designed and oversaw the construction of the jump in 1964. He was not a pure ski jumper himself, but was an avid, proficient skier and was obviously well-versed in slope profiles and large cut/fill operations. He immersed himself in the design parameters of modern ski hill design and this was his only project in the genre. My brothers, Thomas Jr. and Jesse, and I jumped on the hill throughout our high school careers. thx

1. Die erste Schanze wurde wohl 1925 erbaut. Sie ist für das Winterfest 1926 hinter dem Hotel Schützenhaus dokumentiert
2. Nach dem WK II wurde diese Schanze repariert und zum Teil erneuert. Sie wurde aber erst 1948 (nach der Währungsreform fertiggestellt.
3. Die Kosten dafür beliefen sich auf 18.781,73 Reismark und 1.121,53 DM
4. Die Schanze wurde baufällig und wurde 1960 abgerissen (Polizei Braunschweig)
5. Eine neue Schanze wurde im Oktober 1961 erbaut - aber nur als Jugendschanze, mit Sprüngen bis zu 30 Meter. Kurz vor Weihnachten wurde sie fertig gestellt.
6.Eingeweiht(und dann noch verbessert)wurde sie am 3. Feb. 1962.
7. Ende 1962 bekam die Schanze eine neue Beleuchtungsanlage.
8. Gesprungen wurde auf dieser Schanze nach Zeitugsberichten dan noch am 17 Feb. 1962, Ende Dezember 1962 und Anfang Januar 1963.
9. Die Jugendschanze soll 1969 von einer englischen Pioniereinheit überholt worden sein (Zeitung für St. Andreasberg vom 25.11.1969)
10. Am 28. Oktober 1974 beschloss der Rat, die Kälbertalschanze abzurei0en und "schnellstmöglich etwa Neues und Modernes enzstehen zu lassen".
11. In der Zeit vom 2. bis 6. Dezember wurde die Schanze von den städtischen Arbeitern abgerissen.

It had an international element to it (hence the Australian flags).
I lived there during the 1980s. The ramps were gone but we would often ski the landing hump. Even that was imposing.
I would love to know what the competition was.

Da ich als Ruhpoldinger geb. 1946 schon mit 10 Jahren immer
bei Springen an der Schanze war kann ich genau sagen wann der
Schanzenrekord gesprungen wurde. Es wa am 3.1. 1951 bei einem Sylvester Springen Xaver Diener mit 61 Meter. 1958 wurde ein Stahlanlaufturm errichtet. Beim Eröffnungspringen sprang dann Helmut Wegscheider auch 61 M. In der Traunsteiner vom 5.1. 1951 ist ein Bericht vorhanden.

Der "Königssee" ist tatsächlich weit weg von Haag. Die besagten Schanzen lagen aber wie angeben tatsächlich bei Haag in Obb. Die Markierungen im heutigen Ortsteil Rosenberg und in Ramsau entsprechen den vermuteten früheren Schanzenstandorten.

Haag in Oberbayern liegt weit weg vom Königsee. Rosenberg ist ein Vorort von Haag in Obb. Der Skiclub von Frau Preuss ist derjenige von Haag in Obb. (Wappen mit Turm). Die Schanzen gehörten evtl. dem Verein, waren aber dann im Berchtesgadner Land, wo es Berge gibt. In Haag ist alles flach. Die Geodaten beziehen sich auf das flache Stadtgebiet von Haag.
Ob es nur um Besitzverhältnisse geht oder zwei Haags durcheinandergebracht wurden oder die Schanzen schon auch beim Ort stehen?

Bad Sachsa war eigentlich eine Hochburg des Rodelsports (Bad Sachsa gründete gemeinsam mit Dresden, Hannover, Hildesheim und Ilmenau am 26. Dezember 1911 in Hannover den Deutschen Rodelbunde DRB; die III. Deutschen Meisterschaften wurden 1914 in Bad Sachsa ausgetragen) Aus dem "Ravensberger Rodelklub von 1909" ging 1911 der "Wintersportverein Bad Sachsa" hervor, der die erste Schanze in Bad Sachsa auf dem Warteberg im selben Jahr 1911 errichtete. Diese Schanze wurde nach dem I. Weltkrieg erneuert (eine zweite Schanze kam daneben dazu); Nach dem II. Weltkrieg wurde die Schanze erneut umgebaut und es fanden hier die weltweit ersten Nachtspringen unter Fakelbeleuchtung statt (Zitat Karl-Heinz Imse, Schanzenrekordhalter 1953 mit 67 Metern).
1949 konnte die größere Schanze am Ravensberg errichtet werden, die durch Heini Klopfer abgenommen wurde. Diese Natur-Schanze mit ihrem Schanzentisch ist prinzipiell noch vorhanden, ist aber unbrauchbar geworden durch den Bau des Skiliftes in 1962.
Die Jugendsprungschanze am Ravensberg wurde bereits Anfang Februar 1958 anlässlich der Harzer Alpinen Jugendmeisterschaften "ihrer Bestimmung übergeben" "die jüngsten Jahrgänge (1943 bis 1945) erreichten Sprünge bis zu 27 Metern; ein vielversprechender Auftakt zu den NORDISCHEN WINTERSPIELEN" in 3 Wochen. Diese Schanze existiert nicht mehr. Heute wird in Bad Sacha noch alpiner Skisport und insbesondere Langlauf betrieben.

Ich habe sowohl auf Facebook als auch über Email verscht Infos zum Stand des Umbaus zu bekommen, allerdings wurde ich stumpf ignoriert. Ich fürchte also wenn überhaupt, dann wird es noch einige Zeit dauer bis diese Schanzen wieder springbar ist. Ich denke allerdings, dass es eine gute Schanze wäre um Skifliegen im Sommer und für die Damen im Winter zu veranstalten. Für die Männer im Winter sollte sie als Großschanze oder Zwergskiflugschanze klassifiziert werden.

Der Anlaufturm war an die 10 Meter hoch!
Ein super Foto ist aufgetaucht! Und zwar ein Gemälde aus dem Jahr 1940 (gesprungen wurde 1932-1949). Dort sieht man den riesigen hölzernen Sprungturm! Several years latter I graduated to the 'Big' hill!. I jumped at Bear Mt. till 1986 when I retired from jumping. Some of the best memories of my life are being at Bear Mt. with my ski jumping family!

Erinnerung an den Trainings- und Wettkampfbetrieb
Das waren Zeiten. Zu Beginn eines Trainings oder Wettkampf musste die Straße gesperrt werden. Das jeweilige Schild zu platzieren war immer eine sehr beliebte Aufgabe. Parallel dazu wurde immer der Schanzentisch der mittleren Schanze über die Straße gelegt. Danach hieß es den hang fest "trampeln". Nach dieser kleinen Erwärmung ging es in das eigentliche Training.

Na licencję wystarczyło, projekt był w porządku, ale już w 1972 roku w "Dzienniku Łódzkim" pisano
bardzo krytycznie o wykonaniu skoczni, m.in.: "rozbieg i zeskok zostały wykonane niefachowo", "jest (...) fatalnie usytuowana, gdyż zeskok kończy się... płotem"! Wydaje się więc, że nawet jeśli teren pomiędzy skocznią a ul. Demokratyczną nie był jeszcze zabudowany, to przygotowanie wybiegu po prostu nie zostało ukończone, już wtedy przeszkadzał płot. Widać chociażby na zdjęciach lotniczych z 1969 i 1978, że miejsca do hamowania mogło być najwyżej minimalnie więcej, niż dziś.

Po wybudowaniu obiektu wybieg skoczni był wyznaczony aż do ulicy Demokratycznej, miejsca do hamowania było bardzo dużo, (z tego co wiadomo nie było wad konstrukcyjnych ponieważ skocznia uzyskała licencję PZN). Dopiero w latach 90 został postawiony budynek przy tej ulicy, zajmując dużą część wybiegu. Po reaktywacji skoczni w 2009r dodatkowo znajdowała się na wybiegu duża góra piachu, która w 2013r została usunięta podczas prac ziemnych co umożliwiło bezpieczne hamowanie przed ogrodzeniem. Warto zaznaczyć również że na skutek powstania toru saneczkowego na Rudzkiej Górze został skrócony rozbieg, jednak pomimo tego możliwe jest osiąganie odległości w okolicach rozmiaru skoczni.

Schanzenanlage in Chochołów
Die Schanzenanlage wurde am 17.10.2018 eingeweiht und dient als ideale Ausbildungsstätte für junge Springer und Kombinierer. Im Sommer 2021 finden dort u. a. Springen des polnischen Feriencups statt. Ich habe die Anlage im Juli 2021 gesehen, leider keine Fotos gemacht.

Aufbau Schanze-Seiffen
1925 kann es keine Schanze mit Anlaufturm im Ort gegeben haben, da es zu jener Zeit keine gegründeten Wintersportvereine in Seiffen gab.
Vor dem 2.Wk wird der Ort nie als Skisprungort genannt, ganz zu schweigen, dass dieser "auflebte"!
Am 06.02.1955 war (Aufbau-)Schanzenweihe mit 80 Teilnehmern, vor 3000 Zuschauern.
1956 im Oktober, erhebliche Umbaumaßnahmen.
1961 (23.11.) wurde die 41m Schanze mit Holzturm dann sogar mit Matten belegt, doch schon 1966 (im Oktober) wurde sie für den Wettkampfbetrieb gesperrt.
Das Training lief noch einige Jahre weiter, doch 1974 wurde der hölzerne Anlaufturm schließlich abgebaut.
Die Skihütte neben der Schanze steht noch.
Ab 1969 wurde der Trainingsbetrieb im Nachwuchsbereich durch den Trainer Dietrich Neuber wieder (neu) aufgenommen.
Die Jugendschanzen am Schwartenbergweg:
a) die erst gebaute 1973/74 24 Meter Schanze
b) die zweit gebaute um 1975 17m
c) die dritt gebaute um 1977 10m
d) die viert gebaute um 1988 50m (Großschanze)
doch schon ein Jahr darauf erfolgte der Baustopp und das Projekt wurde nie vollendet. Die Jugendschanzen wurden schließlich am 02.07.1997 wegen eines Streits um die Grundstücksrechte abgerissen, dass war aber nicht ausschlaggebend / bei Schachtarbeiten, zur Verlängerung des Schanzen-Auslaufes stieß der Bagger auf ein Mundloch eines alten Bergbaustollens und dieser Stollen (ein Stück) brach ein; Baustopp. Ein Stück Mauer des 50m Schanzenturmes steht noch als Ruine.

Der „zu laut“ Kommentar von Franz Rosenkranz finde ich verwerflich und widerlich.
Wenn ich die Geschichte der Schanze zurückverfolge, wo jungen Talente gefördert und motiviert wurden/werden, dann frage ich mich, was das soll. Lautsprecher Durchsagen waren und sind für junge Talente motivierend und aufbauend, zumal diese Anlässe wenige Male im Jahr stattfinden. Wenn das für einen „Nachbar“ in 400 m Entfernung, an der Unteren Riethaldenstrasse stört, dann zweifle ich am Verständnis für die Jugend, den Sport, die Schweizer Kultur und unser Brauchtum.
Eine klare Aussagen „mich stört der Lärm“ wäre eine Ansage. Dafür Kinder und Tiere vorzuschieben finde ich absurd.
Wenn Sie, Herr Rosenkranz, seit 2018 Schweizer-Bürger, sich stören an Lautsprecherlärm an der Schanze, wenn Sie sich stören am Durchfahrts-Lärm des jährlichen Traktorentreffens an der unteren Munzenrietstrasse, wenn Sie der Ansicht sind diese Strasse müsste auf Grund der Lärm Emissionen gesperrt werden, dann frage ich mich, ob hier neurotische Schwankungen im Spiel sind. Ich beginne auch zu verstehen, weshalb Ihre Nachbarn eine 1.80m hohe Steinmauer auf der Gesamtlände zu Ihrem Grundstück erstellten.

Historical Gem of East Saint Paul
In the early 70's as a teen on Upper Afton road, I can remember looking west from our house at 2169, towards the Battle Creek Ski Jump and seeing a small dot of a skier traveling down the bright white snow pack on the jump and disappear into the forest below where the creek can be found.
In summer my teenage friends and I would visit the site.
At that time, the jump was still standing.
We would explore the creek and then climb up the landscape timber styled staircase that followed the north side of the runway
It was a great experience that felt more like a European Alpine location than anywhere in Minnesota.
The close up view of the height and steepness of the hill and the towering jump was unbelievable!
As a downhill skier myself, I cannot imagine skiing down that jump.
I stopped by to re-visit the site in Spring of 2021. It can be found at the south end of White Bear Avenue, past Upper Afton road in a quiet neighborhood park.
Of course the jump is gone but the concrete foundations remain, along with the incredibly steep runway but sadly, I could only see very small portions of the staircase.
The surrounding park is undergoing renovations and the staircase was closed off.
How great it would be if they could restore the stairs and let future generations experience the intimidating hill and the skier's journey to the top (no gondola) knowing that when you reach the summit the skier still had to climb the stairs of the jump itself.

recht hast Du. Es ist schön, dass sich mal jemand in dieser wunderschönen Sportart auskennt. Die Angaben zur Kamsdorfer Schanze sind auch nicht korrekt. Dort waren 30 Meter nicht zu stehen. Weiß ich aus eigener Erfahrung. Den Schanzenrekort hatte ich bis zuletzt mit 27,5 Metern gehalten und das auf Matten.

Der Zustand im Jahr 2021:Der stählerne Anlaufturm und der Kampfrichterturm stehen noch.Von dem Weg unten ist nichts mehr zu erkennen,alles zugewachsen.Die am Fuße des Auslaufes fließende Göltzsch ist wieder offen,die Rohre entfernt und abtransportiert.Der Weg zum Turm beginnt an der Talsperre oberhalb des einzelnen Hauses und wurde irgendwann verbreitert für größere Fahrzeuge.Die Sportfreunde Häuer und Klug haben mir schon einige Infos geben können und Herr IDE vom Stadtarchiv Falkenstein ist mit sehr guten Infos mit dabei.Grüße Siegfried Wende

Die Schanze, wie auch die Hütte, wurde vom Architekten Dipl. Ing.FH Heinz Mohr gebaut. Der Naturhang wurde steiler abgegraben und der Sindelbach im Auslauf überdeckt. Der Anlauf und Schanzentisch war eine Metallrohrkonstruktion mit aufgeschraubten Holzbrettern.

The location of the ski jump is not quite right. It was located approx. 1.25 km to the southeast on the coordinate 56.424679, 9.439816, where traces can still be seen in the forest floor. The place can also be seen on the orthophoto (basic cover) 1954.

Ha... I DID in fact buy that jump for one dollar.
As president of the Norge ski club I negotiated with the City of Ely to purchase the jump which was soon to be dismantled for scrap. Fabrication for a new jump like the Ely jump was over 850K in 2002.
I liked the dollar price better
We moved the jump to Chicago and re erected it on the NORGE hill. I was there the day the above shot with the giant crane was taken.
We dismantled it and put the steel on 18 flatbed Semi trucks and convoyed 600 miles to Chicago. The last winter Olympics featured jumpers from Chicago not Park City, Steamboat or Lake Placid. One dollar. Careful what you wish for...
