History:

In 1949, the Wausau Ski Club came up with the initiative to build new ski jumps that could compete with the nearby hills in Iola, Beloit, Eau Claire, or Wisconsin Rapids. The first big competition was held in 1950 with an audience of 6,000. The record for the larger hill (145 feet, 44.2 m) was set by Evert Karlsson, Swedish Olympian in 1948. The ski jump was used for several years. Finally, in 1966 the inrun structure was destroyed by a storm.
