The first small ski jump at Chipman Hill Park in Middlebury, Vermont, was constructed in 1924. In 1937, in its place, a 15-meter facility called "High School Jump" was built.
In the meantime, in 1934, it was decided to build a new, larger facility, where ski jumping competitions were organized as part of the "winter carnivals". In 1935-36 the jump was expanded by enlarging the landing slope and outrun. Even in 1945, there was a reconstruction according to a more modern design. However, eventually the hill lost its importance with the development of the nearby Snow Bowl.
