In 1934, a ski jump was built on the east flank of Spencer Mountain, east of Colebrook and north of Winsted. Designed by local jumping star Anton Lekang, it allowed jumps over 60 meters. Although the ski jumping events attracted many spectators, the ski jump was not financially viable and it was abandoned after a few winters.
Finally, in 1950, a reservoir was created on the Colebrook River flowing near the ski jump, which put the facility partially under water and made it unusable.
