At times of the Soviet Union the 1955 build and 1973 reconstructed ski jumping facility in the Ukrainian town Vorochta (Ворохта) was frequently used for the summer training of youth teams. After the collapse of the Soviet Union less money was given to support ski jumping in Ukraine and the jumps no aren’t used as often as in the past.
A curiosity is that already in 1922 the Polish Championships took place in Vorochta, only later the area belonged to Ukraine. In these times also Ms. Michalewska-Zietkiewicz competed in the class “senior II” – and even won! So she likely was the first and only Polish champion for exact 80 years!
