History:
Alpbacken was a ski jumping hill on the northeast slope of Frösön near Östersund. When it was inaugurated in 1925, Alpbacken was Sweden's largest ski jumping hill. The ski jump belonged to Östersunds Skidlöparklubb and was modernized in 1932 and 1943 with the help of the municipality. In 1948 and 1950, Svenska Skidspelen were hosted in Östersund on Alpbacken. Next to the large ski jump was the "small Alpbacken", which was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The outrun of both ski jumps ended on the ice of lake Storsjön. In 1971, the take-off was damaged by a truck and after that the ski jump was never restored.
