Already in 1900 the first ski jump on Gültzauudden (Gültzau Cape) at Luleå was built. Also the landing zone was completely made of wood and not only used for ski jumping, but for Alpine skiing and sledging, too. Beside was, as one can see on the photo, a judges tower, as well as a spectator platform. There were also floodlights and on special occasions the whole ski jumping facility was decorated with flags.
In 1917 some boys discussed about a new jumping hill, which could later be financed with support of the Swedish Ski Association of 2,000 crownes and some festivals in summer. The old jumping hill at Gültzauudden had to be completely demolished and after some delays in January 1924 a new ski jumping hill could be inaugurated at Lulsundet.
