History:

The seaside resort Saltsjöbaden was also a good place for winter sports. Cross-country skiing was possible just as ski jumping and other kinds of sports. The leaders of AB Stockholm-Saltsjön Railroad Association wanted to make Sweden’s Holmenkollen out of Saltsjöbaden. Together with the sports club form Djurgården they worked on the project, before the first jump could be completed in 1895. Many Norwegian jumpers came to the competitions on the new jumping hill.
The first winner’s distance was 16.3 m. But people wanted to jump longer and longer, and so the hill was converted many times in 1904, 1910 and 1931. At the beginning 1930’s this hill shall have been Sweden’s best ski jumping facility. With the 40th anniversary of Djurgårdens IF Holger Schön from Djurgården set a hill record of 46.5 m.
