The first own ski jumping hill at Kandersteg was already built in 1920 at Lötschberg near the railway station, before the members of the SC went to Eggenschwand in order to jump.
In 1977 this ski jump had to be removed and one year later the three jumping hills of the “Nationales Nordisches Zentrum” were opened. The costs of the construction at that time were 2.1 mio. CHF, but they were not too much, because of the excellent summer training conditions and the many competitions on plastic mattings. From the first summer in 1979 until 1992 every year a great international ski jumping competiton on plastic mattings has been hosted.
In 2010 the new-construction project "NNSK2010" got started which includes the reconstruction of the three plastic covered hills as K95 (HS 106), K65 (HS 72) and K27 (HS 28). The 5.6m SFr expensive new-construction works should be carried out by the end of 2012 and afterwards even World Cup competitions of Nordic Combined should be staged at Kandersteg. In November financial means of 2 million CHF were declined by the Swiss sports government and meant a serious set-back for the project.
