History:

Already in the beginning of the 20th century there was the Schlatterlehn ski jumping hill in Teufen, located above St. Gallen. In 1924 the members of former Skiklub Teufen constructed a new ski jumping hill on Frölichsegg, at around 1,000 m altitude. After the hill had been enlarged for 17,000 francs in 1930, up to 3,000 spectators came to the competitions to cheer for jumps of more than 40 meters. Even international top ski jumpers participated - Norway's Birger Ruud set up the hill record of 46 meters at the "anniversary tournament" on February 1, 1931. Frölichsegg-Schanze had been used until 1937, but ski jumping activities then ended due to declining interest and warm winters with warm weather.
