History:
At Maloja, a small village near St. Moritz, a large ski jumping hill had existed between around 1920 and World War II. Jumps up to 80 meters could be performed there. Strangely however, there was not really a need for such a ski jumping hill, as sufficient capacity already existed in close vicinity with the hills at St. Moritz and the world record site in Pontresina. However, the Palace Hotel Maloja was one of the largest luxury hotels of Europe during that time and wanted to offer its well-heeled guests some entertainment with the ski jumping hill. It could not be clarified whether the hill was actually used for official competitions. Today, only some remainders of the take-off can be seen, inrun and landing hill are completely overgrown or re-developed.
