The Winterglin ski jump at Sudół was named after an old clay pit on which it was constructed. In 2003, when one of today’s amateur ski jumpers received mini skis, the local boys decided to try ski jumping. From the beginning on an elevated inrun was created out of old car tyres, the first one was only “3 tyres long” and so no sufficient speed could be achieved – the jumper had to be pulled by two other boys! Today’s ski jump is now “8 tyres long” and allows jumps up to nearly 5 meters. The tyres were even partially covered with grass and there are attempts to use the ski jump in summer.
