The first ski jumping activities at Steinkjer already took place at Skjeftelia on 1866-03-04.
Then Svedjanbakken could be inaugurated on 1904-03-06 and was for ski jumping until 1970’s. After 1946 there was even a floodlight installed and night competitions were organized.
