History:

Aschehougbakken came to life in 1971, when it was handmade by Sverre Fortun and his neighbors. Fortun's son Jens was only 5-6 years old when he started to ski down the roof of the barn on his parents' farm. Together with other kids from the neighborhood, he built a small ski jump, where they jumped 3-4 meters.
But this was not enough for them and so Fortun and two other fathers started building a bigger ski jump. One of them had an excavator and prepared the landing slope and outrun while Fortun and the other, a carpenter, built the inrun tower after Fortun used his chainsaw to get the necessary wood.
Together with their neighbors, they had a small party and jumped on the new hill, also girls were among them. One neighbor even experimented with a snow cannon and even floodlights were available after a wire was stretched from a potato cellar to the ski jump.
