History:

The construction of Steinfjellbakken at Sprova had started on 1945-05-13 and finally the new jump could be inaugurated on February 22 and 23, 1947. The longest distance jumped back then was 49 meters.
After Bjørn Wirkola's double victory in Nordic World Championships at Oslo in 1966, a competition was staged at Sprova where Wirkola and Lars Grini competed among others. There a new record of 63 meters was set up.
In 1972 the ski jump was enlarged, but since it was still considered too small for the hosting of Norwegian Championships, another modernization was done in 1976. The reopening was celebrated with the qualifying tournament for Nordic WSC at Lahti in 1978 and one year later Johan Sætre won the Norwegian title on Steinfjellbakken.
Until 1990's even World Cup's of Nordic Combined were hosted at Sprova, additionally the NM of ski jumpers were organized in 1987 and 2001. In order to be able to organize the ski jumping NM 2011 on Steinfjellbakken, the jump and its infrastructure were modernized for about 100,000 Euros.

Rekord

Ny bakkerekord

Bardal hill record

Even skiforbundet.no considers it as a hill record, but the points really seem to low for the jump not counting as fallen...

Noty Bardala

Nie no, Bardal dostał takie noty: 11,0 12,0 13,5 11,5 13,5

Rekord kobiecy

Anders Bardal - 111,5 m !

Anders Bardal dzisiaj podczas konkursu drużynowego Mistrzostw Norwegii uzyskał na tej skoczni nieprawdopodobną odległość 111,5 m!!!
