History:

The jump got its name from one of the last inhabitants of Skeistrøn whose name was Marta. Already on February 18th 1912 the first competition on Martabakken took place, and it was organized by the ski club ,,Kolbøtta” and later on by Stadsbygd Sports Club. This was a large festival with horn music which attracted very much attention at that time with 400 spectators. 15 jumpers took part and with Per Fessbok one of them set up a new hill record of 17.5 metres. In 1962 Stadsbygd IL celebrated the 50th anniversary of the facility with a ski jumping competition.
Still today the ski jumping facility is used under the name "Damkollen Hoppbakken".
