The first ski race on a ntural ski jumping hill at 552 m high mount Gråkallen near Trondheim was already held by Trondhjems Skiklubb in 1899. Hovedlandsrennet was held there in 1912 and 1931, with the hill being enlarged many times over the years and having a K-Point of 60 meters by 1930.
The first Gråkallrennet after World War II was attended by 25,000 spectators! After a new-construction of the jump even Hemmo Silvennoinen and Helmut Recknagel comepted in the opening competition in 1959, but the hill record was set by Anders Woldseth at 75.5 m. Until 1964 hill was used, now there is only an alpine skiing slope left.
