History:

Bihoro town is located eastern part of Hokkaidō, about 30 km inland from the Sea of Okhotsk. The town's population is about 21,000 people and agriculture is a key industry.
"Biei Schanze" was a 15 meter ski jump, which was built on the north side of current Bihoro junior high school in 1932. There was also a night lighting and it was very crowded at the weekends. Hill record was 21.5 m in 1955. Biei ski jump was demolished in 1965 due to aging and dilapidation.
Another 30 meter jumping hill called "Miyanoue Schanze" was built in Kashiwagaoka in 1951. Miyanoue ski jump has been used in regional tournaments, but the jump was already dismantled in the 1970's.
