History:

Already in 1911 the wintersports club in Thuringian Mengersgereuth-Hämmern was founded. In the ages of GDR ski jumping and Nordic combined was very popular there and there were two ski jumping facilities: at Strohberg at the northern border of the town were the three training jumps and in Augustenthal the former "Schanze der Freundschaft", which was once one of the largest hills of GDR.
