History:

Already in 1922 the Lindenbergschanze in Ilmenau in Thuringia existed. The ski jump was used by the later established ski club Sparta and competitions were made until the beginning of World War II. Some years after the war the Sportgemeinschaft Empor Ilmenau was founded who built up the ski jump totally new in 1952. The K-Point at that time was at 45 meters, at the same time the small hill K20 was built.
In 1958 the ski jumps were covered with plastic mattings. Highlight and a tradition of the club was the annual Christmas competition.
The last competition was in 1968, in the middle 70’s the dilapidated ski jump was removed. People still were jumping on the small hill until the beginning 1990’s, but then also jumping on this ski jump had stopped, because of a lack of interest and money. In 2004 the ski jumping hill was closed and the hill is now used by alpine skiers.

Prof. Dipl.Ing
