The former ski sportsman of after war years Siegfried Gläß was working as a teacher in the school of small Tannenbergsthal in Vogtland. He was leading the school sports community and leaded by him the Waldbachschanze was constructed in 1959 with much internal labour and voluntary engagement. For example the steel pipes for the backing of inrun tower were taken from RAW Zwickau, the fundaments were made in hand-work and the wooden inrun covering was installed. The small beginner’s jump was set up little later. In 1972/73 the two jumps were covered with plastic mattings.
Remarkable is the fact, that in these time Siegfried Gläß teached ski jumping in school subject sports! In this way the young ski jumper Thomas Meisinger was developed. As a great ski jumping talent he was sent over to SC Klingenthal, where he became professional and was GDR national champion in ski jumping in 1977. At Ski Flying World's in 1977 and in Oberstdorf 1981 he realized his best international results with twice a nineth place.
Unfortunately with the Reunification ski jumping activities on the jump ended and in 1991/92 it was removed by the municipality. A small piece of local village history had come to an end.
