History:

Around 1925 the „Schanze am Reicheltberg” with a wooden inrun tower was constructed in Saxonian Seiffen. This ski jump had been used for jumping distances of around 20 meters until end of 1939.
It took very long after World War II to reanimate ski jumping sports at Seiffen, but then in 1954 the new Aufbauschanze could be completed. In 1961 the 35 meter hill with a wooden inrun construction was even covered with plastic mattings, but today the skiing cabin at the jump does only serve as a material hut.
Finally on 1978-02-11 the Jugendschanze K20 with plastic covering could be inaugurated. In 1988 the construction of an additional 40 meter hill started, but already in the following year the works stopped and this project was never finished. The Jugendschanzen were finally torn down on 1997-07-02 after a law suit concerning the real estate property rights.

Schanze

Margit Reichelt-Jordan
