History:

The first proposal for the construction of a ski jump at Pobershau was made by the ski club from nearby Marienberg in 1924, but requirements of the local authorities led the club to refusal and also the local TSG declined.
In 1931 woodcraft manufacturer Böttcher provided an estate at no charge and on February 21, 1932 the ski jump was inaugurated with the name of the sports-mad sponsor. The ski jump with its wooden inrun tower had been used until 1940 and after World War II it was restored in 1948.
District championships and open night competitions were organized there and the record jump of 34 meters by Günter Oettel from Pobershau the maximum distance of the hill was reached. Later the very talented athlete Oettel was delegated to SC Traktor Oberwiesenthal and achieved a third place in GDR championships in 1960.
The construction of a new ski jumping hill at Wildsberg started in 1952. Due to indefatigable and voluntary efforts of 240 supporters it was possible to inaugurate “Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Schanze” on January 30, 1955 with an audience of 5,000 spectators!
Then, the jump was extended by floodlights and a public-address system. In 1970 the wooden structure had to be repaired, but after that competitions only continued till 1973. Three years later the jump was dismantled and the material used for the construction of the skiing cabin.
Smaller Johannes-Böttcher-Schanze was already worn out by late 1960's, but even without inrun tower veteran competitions had still been arranged till 1980's.

Zum Zeitungsartikel in der Foto-Galerie möchte ich verständnishalber hinzufügen , daß die Eröffnung der Johannes-Böttcher-Schanze zweimal verschoben werden mußte ,da am geplanten Einweihungstag noch kein Schnee lag. Erst 14 Tage später war es möglich und dies auch nur durch den Einsatz von vier engagierten Mitgliedern des Vereins , die bei Minusgraden die Schanze mit der Feuerwehrspritze berieselten ( eine Art Schneekanone )und zusätzlich mit einem Lastschlitten Schnee herangeschafften.
An dieser Stelle nochmals Dank an Sportfreund G.Leibiger ,der mir Einblick in die Chronik des Skivereins gewährte.

Da wird mir warm um´s Herz, wenn ich diese Bilder sehe. Die große Schanze war meine erste "richtige" Schanze. Heimlich sind wir hin geschlichen und haben den Schlagbaum am Schanzentisch hoch geklappt und haben es probiert. Zuerst nur mit halben halben Anlauf. Aber schon im zweiten Versuch ging es aus der ersten Luke über den Tisch.
Das war Mut und Leichtsinn gleichermaßen. Beide Sprünge wurden gestanden. Später dann ging es offiziell und wohl organisiert über diese und andere Schanzen im Kreis Marienberg. Neuhausen, Wünschendorf u.a..

Leider habe ich heute keine Unterlagen oder Urkunden (ein paar vordere Plätze waren ja dabei) mehr. Das ist schade aber vielleicht liest das jemand und kann einen Hinweis geben, wo diese vielleicht noch einzusehen sein könnten.
Wäre eine späte Freude.
