History:

Ski jumping activities in Lower-Bavarian Holzland started in end of 1940's and it were the skiers of TSV Neuötting, who organized skiing competitions on the slopes of Inn valley. Meindl family provided a piece of land on the "Steilhang" in Burg, a village loacted east of Winhöring, in 1953, and there the sportsmen of TSV caved "Meindlschanze" by hand from the grounds. Premier was on January 10, 1954 and until 1965 many visitors came for the competitions organized in snowy winters. Unfortunately the natural 50 meter hill was located on a southern slope and thus the sun sometimes made competitions literally melt away. Then warm winters and the sale of the Meindl property terminated ski jumping activities there.
But the enthusiastic skiers with the club's active ski jumpers from Reischach and Winhöring did not give in and got new properties from the farmers in the village Burg for the construction of a new hill. In 1976 the construction of Holzlandschanze by own labour without any subsidies. The profile of the new ski jump was shaped according to experiences of the former ski jumpers at Winhöring and the inrun consisted of a start structure leading onto a very long natural inrun.
The inauguration of Holzlandschanze was done on January 16, 1977, but already in summer 1978 the facility was completely renwed. From light posts of Freilassing station, lattice masts from Isaramper works and a crane boom sponsored by Auer company from Tögging, a 16 meter high inrun tower was built, now allowing jumps over 40 meters. The massive judges tower, which included an evaluation and equipment room, was only constructed some years later.
The smaller hill was built in 1980 and in mid 1990's it was covered with plastic mattings. From 1977 to 2005 annual cup competitions with international participants, among them also Bavarian and German champions, were held with only few weather-related cancellations. But also Inngau championships of youth and juniors were hosted at Winhöring.
After many commendable operatives, such as veteran Frank Kosch from Neuötting, retired, the ski jumping hills became abandonned. There were no more young jumpers and no motor of continuation in the club. In March 2011 the Holzlandschanzen were finally dismantled.
