History:

In 1949, a few ski jumping enthusiasts began with the construction of a ski jumping hill at a slope at Sachsenried forest between Salabeuren and Ödwang near Osterzell in East-Allgäu. The natural ski jump with its wooden table was planned by Heini Klopfer and inaugurated in 1950. Event night competitions were held there, in which sometimes great athletes such as the later Olympic champion in Nordic Combined Franz Keller competed. However, ski jumping activities at Osterzell already ended in 1961. In 2004, a memorial stone was set up to remember the former ski jump and its builders: Wilfried und Herrmann Scheithauer, Herbert Pischl, Ernst Blum, Josef Leonhart, Walter Zeizel, Karl Nieberle and Günther Vogel.
