Wintersports have a long tradition at Bad Steben. Already in 1926 the wintersports club was founded as section of today’s cure association. In the same year the first ski jumping hill at the “Leithe” near Calrsgrün, on which jumps on up to 20 m were possible, was constructed.
In 1952 the construction of a larger inrun tower made of wood and a new profile of the landing hill had followed. In 1968 the wooden inrun tower was set down, because it was dilapidated and reconstructed in 1987. The biggest success was in 1988 the international night ski jumping competition with world champions and Olympic Gold Medal winners from former Czechoslovakia.
In 1994 the facility was covered with plastic mattings. Since also summer jumping has been possible and has been a great attraction in the Frankenwald. But in late 2000's interest seriously declined and in 2010 the hill had to be closed due to defects of the mattings. Reparation works are still hanging in poise.
