History:

Already on 1904-02-28 the first ski jumping competition of Vosges was hosted on “Tremplin du Treh” at Markstein (also: Le Markstein), winner was Jean Hutter with 7.5 meters. After that from 1909 to 1922 the “Tremplin Mertz” was used, followed by a new ski jump at today’s location in 1923. This wooden 60 meter ski jumping hill was modenized in 1929 and reopened with a competition attended by 6,000 specatators.
After World War II the jump was reconstructed into a 70 meter hill and for the French championships in 1955 3,000 spectators travelled to the small town in Alsace. In 1984 beside the already given up larger hill both still today existing junior ski jumping hills K45 and K20 were constructed. They are named after Etienne Favre, who was a very successful winter sportsmen from Markstein in 1930’s and 40’s.
