History:

The first ski jumping hill in Käpylä's district of Helsinki was built on northwestern slope of Taivaskallio hill in 1927, 5 years after Käpylä VPK applied to city for permission to built. The high inrun tower was built from wood and iron donated by local building companies as well as wooden landing zone. However, Taivarin hyppyrimäki wasn't a fortunate one. Opened on February 26, 1928, it already collapsed in a winter storm on December 14, 1929. It was never rebuild, since the remains of the tower and the wooden landing zone were demolished and sold shortly after its collapse.
