History:
Chlum is a 416 meter high hill in the north-east of Plzeň, at which first winter sports activities started in 1920s. In 1936, the ski section of the workers-tourists union built a ski jumping hill with a critical point of 28 meters at its northern slope. Even during World War II competitions were held there. In 1942, up to 2000 spectators shall have attended a jumping event. In the same year, the ski jump was further extended. A year later, a small ski jump was added in the town center next to the All Saints Church (Kostel Všech svatých). Due to bad snow conditions, the ski jumping hill at Chlum had only been used until 1951 and in 1953 it was deconstructed. However, the slope of the former hill is still well-visible today.
