Dvůr Králové nad Labem is the home of Czech architect and famous ski jumping hill constructor Karel Jarolímek, who is honoured with a memorial plaque in the town.
Before World War II winter sports activities focused at nearby
Dolní Brusnice, but in 1942 a 25 meter ski jumping hill with 10 meter hight tower was also build at Údolíčko at the bounds of Dvůr Králové. It was reconstructed with a new tower and floodlights in 1953. Today the zoo of Dvůr Králové is situated there.
