Chicopee Ski Club was founded in December 1934 and then started to build the skiing area at Chicopee Heights in Kitchener. In 1935-36, two ski jumping hills were constructed, the larger 35-meter hill being profiled according to FIS guidelines. After Word War II, the ski jump was modernized in 1948 and then also used for competitions on province-level. A conversion into a 45-meter hill happened in 1968; two years earlier the junior hill had already been modernized. During this period, Chicopee had been very active in developing young ski jumpers. However, in subsequent decades interest in ski jumping strongly declined and today Chicopee still remains only as an alpine skiing area.
