History:

With the founding of WSV Andelsbuch in 1925 Nordic skiing was established in the town in Vorarlberg. In 1928 the very first ski jumping competition was held on Bezeggschanze, not far from today’s ski jump.
After sports were completely laying down during World War II, in 1947 the new Wälderschanze was constructed according to plans of Eng. Ohneberg. At the inauguration competition in December 1947 the whole Austrian national team around Bubi Bradl was participating. In the following years Nordic state championships and an annual epiphany competition were organized at Andelsbuch. At that time Arno Gisinger held the hill record with 67.0 m.
In 1970 the first larger conversion was done and during national championships in the following year Reinhold Bachler and Franz Saalhof jumped 73.0 m. At ÖM 1975 8,000 spectators watched a new hill record of 77.5 m performed by Hans Millonig.
In middle 1980’s a complete new-construction of Wälderschanze had to be done. At the opening of the new K85 hill with an Alps Cup competition of Nordic Combined in 1990, Jens Deimel jumped 89.0 m.
For the 75th anniversary of the ski club in 2000 the Austrian Championships and a World Cup “B” of Nordic Combined were hosted on Wälderschanze. A floodlight competition in 2003 was the last larger event held on the jump. The further development of the ski jumping hill is very insecure, but the enlargement into a 100 meter hill, as well as the construction of additional youth hills is discussed. In October 2007 even the judge’s tower burned down.
