There were already ski jumps at Präbichl above Vordernberg before World War II.
In 1946, the "Naturfreunde" (nature lovers) Vordernberg built a mighty 60-meter ski jump. The inauguration took place on January 12, 1947. In the course of the year, the Naturfreunde-Schanze was further expanded and should even allow jumps of up to 80 meters. Thus, the four-country ski jumping event on January 18, 1948, attracted 7000 spectators, whereby the hill record of 65.5 meters could not be beaten at first. Sepp Bradl even took part in the jumping for the "Silver Edelweiß" on February 8, 1948, although he only managed 63.5 meters due to the rain. In 1949, Bradl and Rudi Gehring were guests in Vordernberg, with dull fresh snow once again preventing new records.
In addition to the large hill, the Naturfreunde also operated a smaller youth hill, which was also used for regional competitions. In 1954, however, the jump activities ended again.
