New-construction of Velikanka delayed

The new large and normal ski jumping hills at Planica can not be jumped on already in February, they are likely to be completed only in summer
Since summer 2011 the demolition and reconstruction works on Bloudkova Velikanka HS 135 and Srednija HS 105 have been running in the "valley of ski jumps" in Slovenian Planica. Originally it was intended that the works should be going in record pace and make first ski jumps possible already in February 2012, but as siol.net now reports there is a delay and the ski jumping hills will only be ready for first ski jumpers to take off in June.
The director of ZSRS Planica Jelko Gros mentions to siol.net "problems of structural nature" as a reason for the postponement that also caused the contract with the executing building contractor to be amended a few days ago.
But already during the World Cup finale on Letalnica ski flying hill from March 16 to 18 the construction progress shall be clearly visible for spectators and concerning the future schedule Gros adds: "We will have to pause construction works then, but only a short while later we can resume. The installation of plastic mattings will start on April 15 and by end of June the works will be completed. In the first time ski jumping activities might be a bit restricted due to ongoing works on other buildings. This will demand some ingenuity from us. Furthermore the works on the other ski jumping hills will start in summer and shall also be completed by end of this year.
