Soil works in Vikersund finished
For 8 months the works on the new ski flying hill in Vikersund have been running and now the excavation work has been completed.
Already in spring 2010 the deconstruction of the old ski flying hill (K185 / HS 207) at Vikersund has started and in June FIS Congress gave the final approval for the enlargement of Vikersundbakken on K195 and HS 225 with the extension of the height difference between take-off and landing zone from 130 to 135 meters.
After the natural inrun was already sprayed with cement and equipped with a steel construction in fall, now the heavy works on the inrun could be finished. A total of 700'000 cubic meters of soil were dug out of the slope.
Until February Vikersundbakken has to be made ready for competitions in order to host the trial World Championships, where everybody will be curious whether there can be a new world record set up or not.
